Hubspot founders are Brian Halligan and Dharmesh Shah. Halligan came from traditional marketing and Shah came from ITM. After becoming a leader in web 2.0 they coined the term inbound marketing to describe marketing strategies and practices that pulled prospective customers  toward a business and its products, through the use of Web 2.0 tool such as blogging, search engines, and social media (inbound marketing is another term for digital marketing).They  turn against traditional marketing and solely use inbound techniques to acquires customers. Hubspot 's goals include: contact customers, decide on pricing model to get new customers decide if they could achieve enough scales through digital marketing

They headquarter the company in Cambridge, Massachusetts, a hotbed for high-tech start-ups and staffed with young MIT graduated. With Halligan’s marketing, sales, and venture experience and Shah technological experience the two were a winning pair.First issue that HubSpot struggled with was how to harness the Internet to build a business.

As direct mail, trade shows, and telemarketing began to slow down, search engines, blog, and social media were on the rise and brought business higher rates.  digital marketing is a collection of marketing strategies focused on pulling in the customers to the business not push the business on the customer.To maximize inbound marketing first must write compelling content, distribute content so that it is easily found, and third was to attracts and engage a community of followers to interact with the content. Businesses are incourage to  increased marketing spending dedicated to digital marketing particularly business to business industries.

With the introduction of new digital marketing advertisers have gain the ability to reach their target audience through media other than television, radio and newspaper.  Today you do not only see a commercial on TV, you also see it while watching YouTube. You do not only hear an advertisement on your radio, but on Pandora, online music channel, as well. Also, with new digital marketing advertisements, not only do you read an advertisement in a new paper or magazine, you can also read it on numerous website, pop-ups, and banner ads.  

There are several advantages that are brought about by digital media. These advantages include: target market selectivity, tracking, deliverability, flexibility, and reach, interactivity, and integration.

Target market selectivity:
Digital marketing offer advertisers to target there market precisely.  It is important to segment the market to be able to target consumer based on their individual interests, wants and need. The target market can be broken up into schemes such as demographics and geographic. Geographic can be broken further into region, time of day, and internet browser used. Today you see this used in mobile devices. Tools such as GPS tracking can connect your location to local businesses.

Tracking: Digital marketing allows advertisers to track how a consumer interacts with a brand. This provides an advertiser with customer’s interest. Display banner ads and websites provide consumer tracking information. It measure a response to an ad by the number of hits

Deliverability, flexibility, and reach: Digital markeitng provides deliverability due to the fact that it can de delivered any time of the day or night. It is flexible because an advertisement can be updated, changed, or delete almost immediately upon the decision. Digital media can provide an immediate reach globally unlike any means of traditional media. The use of website advertisement will take advantage of these benefits.

Interactivity: Digital marketing is able to engage a customer unlike any form of traditional media.  A customer is able to go to a company’s website, click on a banner ad and be given a tour of the company and its product. I have seen car dealerships take advantage of interactivity by giving a virtual tour of the inside of the dealership. A customer is able to view cars and details as is he/she was really their just by a click of the mouse.

Integration: Digital marketing is able to work with traditional marketing, not against it. With the use of digital markeitng, an advertiser can carry a brand theme throughout multiple channels, digital and traditional. For example I can watch a Ford Mustang commercial asking the question “What mustang are you?” then I can go online, click on a banner ad, and then design my own mustang.

13 year old McKenna Pope wanted to get her 4 year old brother, Gavyn Boscio, exactly  what he wanted for Christmas, an Easy-Bake Oven. When she went to buy one, the oven only came in pink and purple. The box displayed only girls playing with the oven. This upset McKenna because she wanted to get a boyish oven for her brother. Through the use of YouTube, and other digital marketing means, McKenna has grabbed the attentions of thousands. Including the attention of Manuel Trevino of TV's "Top Chef" and Michael Lomonaco of Porterhouse New York. 

McKenna goal is to make Easy-Bake Oven gender neutral. Both men and women enjoy cooking, so why is there only a cooking toy for girls. She has started an  online petition, which had reached about 40,000 signatures as of Tuesday on the website Change.org.

It is amazing the impact you can create using digital marketing. McKenna is only 13 and has made a huge impact on society.

On my way to getting the best digital marketing degree !!  I Just competed presenting out media objectives for my advertising project.I was in a group with two of my really good friend, Karla and Samar. We put together an amazing digital marketing strategy for a salon in Dearborn. One of our suggestions was to post video viral videos. These videos would have customer testimonials  and information about employees at the salon. We had a great time making the video, and it helped greatly with the salons digital marketing. Below I posted the bloopers from the video we made. Hope you all enjoy !!

Welcome. My last blog we discussed  how digital marketing has impact everyone's lives. From the comments I received it is apparent that we as consumers are surrounded by digital marketing and everything it has to offer. So I would like to say welcome, welcome to the world of digital marketing. 

A post by Megan Miller stated "We text instead of talk, we Facebook to "stalk" people's lives and we are being advertised something at almost every turn or click of a mouse." I found this comment to be incredibly true. I spend very little time talking and the phone and a lot of time stalking on Facebook. But it is not just the consumers stalking consumers.  If you are a digital marketing you are also participating in this staking behavior. People with digital marketing degree are experts in stalking on Facebook. However, digital marketers do not have the same motives as consumers when it comes to stalking. Consumers stalk on Facebook to see who is dating who, who just had a baby, and of course to find the latest gossip. When Digital marketers stalk on Facebook they are watching for the latest trends, behavior  and likes on Facebook. For example if a digital marker notices and increase in children born,digital marketing view this as an opportunity to increase diaper ads, not as the latest gossip.

Hello all. Today I would like to start a discussion. How does digital marketing impact you ? The three main way to use digital marketing is through SEO (search engine optimization), social media outlets, and mobile marketing. All three of these digital marketing channels find their way in to our daily lives. 

SEO is in our life every time we search something. For example, if I wanted to Google bowling alleys one ad would pop up on top for yellow pages, and two on the side selling a bowling alley. 

It is obvious how social media is in our lives. How much time do you spend updating your Facebook and Twitter accounts? I know I spend too much time, but it is something I like to do. Digital marketing is apparent in social media again just by looking at the ads on the side. Facebook's digital marketing is able to match Facebook users likes to the ads that appear on their Facebook page.

Everybody has a smart phone these days. With your smart phone you are surrounded by digital marketing. One way digital marketing is being used on mobile devices is through GPS. Digital marketing uses GPS tracking to findbusinesses near you that can offer coupons and gimmicks to get you in to their store. Another way mobile devices use digital marketing it through games played on phones. The other day I was playing Cut The Rope, my new favorite Game, and a new ad popped up every 10 mins. It was slightly annoying but I enjoyed playing the game so much it didn't bother me as much as it should. 

So what I want to know, is how digital marketing is apparent in your life ? 

 
Become Google Certified !! 
As a part of my digital marketing class at the University of Michigan-Dearborn I had to take the Google adword certification test. The exam consisted of two exam each having over 100 question. I had to take the Google Advertising Fundamentals Exam and the Search Advertising Advanced Exam. I found the Search Advertising Advance exam to be more difficult then the Google Advertising Fundamental Exam. With hard work and dedication I was able to pass both exams. I received an 87% on the Google advertising fundamental exam and an 83% on the search advertising advance exam. 


At first I was very upset that I had to take these exam as a part of my digital marketing class, but now I am thankful I did. I am now certified in Google adwords, and I learned so much about digital marketing along the way 
 
As many of you know digital marketing is a new degree to many schools. Many school programs are still perfecting their digital marketing degree program. I would love to help a school design their digital marketing degree program. I would make sure to include SEO  (search engine optimization), social media marketing, and mobile marketing.

The University of Michigan-Dearborn has set up a digital marketing degree to include these top three most important aspects of digital marketing.

Finals are just around the corner, and many student here at the University of Michigan Dearborn are feeling the pressure. I seems like every professor saved everything for last minute. I guess it is not just the student that procrastinate. 

One challenge students come across when trying to cram in their last minute work, is finding a place to do it at. Many student at the University of Michigan- Dearborn are living at home with their parents. Although parents are a great resource for food and money, they help very little when trying to study. 

Many students study at the the University's library. However, it becomes a challenge to meet the library's hours, because it is not open 24 hours. So where is a poor college student to go ? 

Coffee shops are very popular for students to go and study. Coffee shops provide a comfortable atmosphere and copious amounts of caffeine, necessary for a student's long study night. 

I decided to visit two coffee shops in the area to determine the best coffee shop to study at. I visited Starbucks and Tim Hortons. 

First I visited Starbucks. I squeeze into a small parking spot, and walked in. It seemed like a party was going on at this Starbucks. People we talking very loudly and there where no seats open. I left without even buying a coffee. Outside was just as bad as the inside. I even saw a dog sitting on top of a table out side Startbuck's front door.

Next I visited Tim Hortons. Their parking lot is very large and empty. When I walked in, I noticed their new renovations. There are plenty of seats and outlets. The people here are talking quickly or working on their laptops.As I sit here drinking my hot coffee and listening to the soft music in the background; I know that Tim Hortons is the better choice.
